Ce 15e volume des Bootlegs series de Bob Dylan se penche sur les années 67 à 69, celles des albums John Wesley Harding, Nashville skyline et Self portrait. Le disque 1 met l'accent sur des versions alternatives de compositions de l'album John Wesley Harding, ainsi qu'une chanson inédite, Western road, provenant des sessions de Nashville Skyline. Les disques 2 et 3 sont centrés sur les collaborations de Dylan avec Johnny Cash issues des fameuses sessions du Studio A Columbia. Les 17 et 18 février 1969 avec un groupe comprenant Carl Perkins, les deux hommes enregistrent les 20 duos inédits gravés. Le disque 3 se conclut par des morceaux enregistrés le 17 mai 1970 avec la légende du banjo Earl Scruggs pour l'émission TV de PBS Earl Scruggs : His familly and friends. En tout ce sont 47 enregistrements inédits qui documentent cette période charnière où - après son accident de moto de 1966 - Bob Dylan prend encore tout le monde à contre-pieds et après sa révolution rock, invente plus ou moins l'Americana, ce genre hybride mélant folk, country music et rock. |
